The programme

The activity starts at 9.45 in the riding-school with a welcome session, a technical briefing and preparation of the horses. After this we set off on our ride along country paths to the viewpoint at the Castle of Stª Cruz where we can look out over the dazzling panorama of the Vez valley. On the way we will stop for a bite to eat (weather-permitting) to rebuild our strength and sample the local fare. We can then unhurriedly make our way back to the riding-school, arriving at about 17.00.

Discover Arcos de Valdevez

Arcos de Valdevez encapsulates the characteristic charm of this region: a green and bounteously fresh landscape, manorial architecture and a river, the Vez, that reflects the proud history of this town.

To the northeast lies the immense cultural and environmental wealth of the Peneda-Gerês National Park. This contains important megalithic remains, the almost legendary land of Soajo and traces of the traditional farming, forestry and pasture based economy supported by seasonal migrations between winter and summer quarters.

Scattered abundantly throughout the county one can find old manor houses, history-laden medieval towers and bridges, temples of every conceivable style, countless ages-old  festivals and a food experience beyond compare.

Taking advantage of the heritage, the natural  beauty and the traditions of Arcos de Valdevez is our  proposal for this weekend.
